Designed to answer the biggest
questions in the Universe.
THE SCIENCE
Spotting the very first stars and galaxies, seeing stars and planets forming, 'sniffing' the air around alien worlds - the
James Webb Space Telescope was built to do amazing things.

The biggest telescope in space and a monumental feat of engineering.
THE TECHNOLOGY
The most complex telescope ever flown, the James Webb Space Telescope will travel a million miles from Earth, unfold to the size of a tennis-court, and detect invisible light. And that’s just the beginning.

THE PEOPLE
UK scientists and engineers working on the James Webb Space Telescope are part of a global team. Many hundreds of people from over a dozen nations have worked together to design, build and use the telescope.
